Rising Senior Scholarship

The 2017 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards is now open!

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2017 Youth Awards. Educational grants are available for students who are part of the graduating class of 2018. Recipients will be selected for their accomplishments in the classroom, community, and for their focus in various educational categories. Categories include:
  • Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Community Service
  • Education
  • Healthcare & Science
  • Media & Entertainment
  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)
These will be awarded in 10 regional ceremonies across the country in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco/Bay Area, and Washington, DC.

The application deadline is Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at www.hispanicheritage.org or www.hhfyouthawards.com.

Rising Senior Summer Activities

Rising Senior Summer Activities: 

  1. Get a copy of your transcript. 
  1. Go to Big Future https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org and log-in using your College Board SAT log-in. Save your Top 5 to My Colleges on the bottom of the page. Note: Deadlines, SAT/ACT, rank, GPA, and scholarship requirements, if applicable.  
  1. Go to https://raise.me and build/update your profile and earn micro scholarships and research colleges as you build. Watch the deadlines. 
  1. Go to *Apply Texas https://applytexas.org and find out which essays/short answers you should be working on this summer for your Top 5 (See #1, if you do not have a Top 5).  
  1. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Tyler to work on your essays/short answers. Email:  Paula@fwlibraryfoundation.org 
  1. Think of a list of people who will write you a letter of recommendation, and contact them to see if they are willing. Once you have the destinations determined, send them an official request, brag sheet, and the directions for the requesting institution. Try to provide two weeks for the writer.  
  1. Look at http://www.fwisd.org/Page/2509 for the FWISD Scholarship Bulletin.
